Process for Foundation Enrolments at Carlton North Primary School
The office staff begin taking Foundation enrolment enquiries in mid to late April of the year before starting school. Please contact the school office on 9347 4822 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
All families are welcome to make an enquiry and all enquiries will be added to a list maintained by the office. An open morning is usually held in the third week of May and prospective families are strongly encouraged to attend. School tours can also be organised after this date.
Each year the Foundation intake is approximately 40 students. Preference is given to students for whom CNPS is the closest government school to their permanent residential address and siblings of currently enrolled students. The Principal reviews the list of enquiries and a first round offer list is compiled based on the above criteria. An enrolment offer is sent to these families in July of the year before starting school. If there are still spaces available these are allocated primarily on the basis of distance between home and school. Any remaining spaces are offered towards the end of term 3 or in term 4. The school works closely with local kindergartens to ensure a smooth transition to school. Our transition program is held in Term 4, please see our Foundation Transition page for more details.
Enrolling at year levels other than Foundation
Students wishing to enrol in other year levels will need to be living at a permanent residential address where CNPS is the closest government school, although this may vary from year to year and between grade levels. Enrolment of International students
At times, we do enrol international students. International students seeking to enrol in a Victorian Government school must apply to the International Education Division (IED). Details of the application process and application forms are available from the www.study.vic.gov.au website. Families can contact the IED for advice about the application process.
